Job description

Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a temporary to permanent role, offering the opportunity to support children with special educational needs both in the classroom and through sport and physical activity.

The role will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs

  • Assisting with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times

  • Supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to pupils’ needs

  • Leading and assisting with sports sessions to promote physical development, teamwork and confidence

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and social interaction

  • Working collaboratively with staff to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about working with children with SEN and committed to inclusion

  • Experienced or confident in delivering sports and physical activities

  • Patient, empathetic and resilient, with the ability to adapt to individual needs

  • Willing to support with personal care as part of the role

  • A strong communicator and team player

Experience in SEN support, childcare or coaching is desirable, but full training and guidance will be provided.

This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with children, combining classroom support with the opportunity to inspire through sport. The position will begin on a temporary basis, with the potential to progress to a permanent contract for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
