About the Role

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive special school in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The school caters for pupils aged 2–19 with a range of severe, profound, and complex learning needs, including autism and associated communication difficulties.

We are looking for enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a setting that combines teaching and therapies to support every pupil’s personal, social, and academic development.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to help pupils access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and positive environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with complex needs and EHCPs to engage in learning activities

  • Assist in implementing individualised education and therapy plans

  • Encourage pupils to communicate, interact, and develop social skills

  • Contribute to a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences


What We’re Looking For

  • Good numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths desirable)

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (desirable)

  • A flexible, patient, and resilient approach to working with diverse learners

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them thrive
