A special school based in Uxbridge that caters for children between the ages of 11-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism (ASD) are now seeking to appoint a number of Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full time basis with the view to start ASAP. The school is located approximately 15/20 minutes from Uxbridge station on the Metropolitan and the Piccadilly line.
The role will entail you to work with pupils on a 1:1, 1:2, small groups and assisting the teacher in the classroom. There is a specialist ASD unit for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and those with severe learning difficulties each have their own workstation with an allocated quiet area.
The school building is light and spacious, with large well-equipped classrooms and a number of specialist teaching areas, including a Hydrotherapy pool. The site is both safe and secure with good security.
There is an initial induction program for new starters working on team work, communication and behaviour. The school also offers good career progression for any graduates that wish to pursue a career in teaching.
This role would suit a graduate looking to gain experience prior to teaching in a special school, those with voluntary experience working with SEN and/or ASD or those who have worked with young people in a youth setting.
