Teaching Assistant – SEMH School (Stoke-on-Trent)

Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Pay: £90 – £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time and day-to-day roles available

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Teaching Personnel are recruiting Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in Stoke-on-Trent.

This role is ideal for individuals with:

  • Experience supporting pupils with behavioural or mental health needs

  • A background in SEN, education, youth work, care work, or psychology

  • Transferable skills from other professions where you’ve supported or mentored young people

Your Role:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs 1:1 or in small groups

  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement in learning

  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and supporting individualised learning plans

  • Help develop pupils’ confidence, emotional wellbeing, and social skills

  • Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in behaviour management, mental health support, SEN, or psychology

  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable

  • Confident in handling challenging situations and supporting pupils’ emotional needs

  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
