Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to begin working on a full time or flexible basis in September.
We work with a number of client schools who support students who have social, emotional and mental health needs and require Teaching Assistants who specialise in behaviour management to work in small groups and on a 1:1 basis with the students.

The Schools

These specialist SEMH schools support up to 100 students who have been excluded from mainstream school due to challenging behaviours, which can include but is not limited to ADHD, Autism, Depression and Anxiety.
Lessons include core subjects but also include many vocational subjects to suit their learning styles, such as sports and IT.

The Role

As a TA specialising in behaviour, you will attend lessons with your assigned class or student, to support them with the curriculum and managing their workload, however you will also be required to ensure they are interacting and behaviour appropriately and mentor them on an appropriate way to react and behave.

You can expect to meet some challenging and testing situations which require you to think on your feet and remain as calm and as patient as possible, ensuring the safety of students and staff at all time.

Ideally, training in areas such as Team-Teach are ideal for this role.

The working hours of the role are Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm, all applicants must have a child workforce only DBS which is registered to the update service, or be willing to apply for one.
