Teaching Assistant – Secondary
Location: Caldicot
Pay: £82.50 – £95 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: Until July 2026 (with potential for a school contract)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:00pm
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well‑established secondary school in Caldicot, supporting pupils aged 11–16. The school is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join their team as a Teaching Assistant.
Experience is valuable, though personal experience of working with children will also be considered.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils either on a one‑to‑one basis or within small groups. If you are passionate about helping young people and want to make a meaningful difference in their development, this role could be an excellent opportunity for you. While the work can be challenging at times, it is hugely rewarding.
You will work closely with the class teacher, providing support within the classroom environment. The school offers on‑site training, and Teaching Personnel provides a broad range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses to support your progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare learning materials and assist the class teacher as required.
- Create a warm, welcoming environment in which pupils can flourish.
- Demonstrate reliability and a strong commitment to the role.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and help them feel at ease.
- Participate in training and school‑based activities.
- Support pupils in understanding daily tasks and developing their learning.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply).
- EWC registration (or willingness to apply).
- Ability to provide two recent references.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Safeguarding Level 2 (provided free of charge by Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
