Teaching assistant required for Bury specialist school

I am recruiting Teaching assistants on behalf of one of our clients, a specialist school for children and young people aged 11 to 19 years with complex and severe autistic spectrum conditions.

All students have a statement of special educational needs that include reference to the autistic spectrum. Students have a very wide range of cognitive ability. Many have additional needs and a high proportion present with extremely challenging behaviours on entry to the school.

The school wants their learners to achieve the best possible outcomes whatever the extent of their autism or learning difficulties. Teaching staff work closely with specialist speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists to recognise potential, enable learning and ultimately maximise independence.

The school are looking to appoint a Teaching assistant to work on a long term basis within this provision. The role will involve 1:1 and general classroom support in a year 10 class, starting ASAP with view to continuing until the end of the next academic year.

The school have requested that any applicants have experience of supporting people with special educational needs, ideally Autism. Obtaining this experience in a support work or educational capacity would be enhance your application.
