Do you have experience in the care sector?

Are you looking for more sociable hours?

Are you a PMLD specialising SEN Teaching Assistant looking for long term work?

The Executive Head Teacher of an SEN school within the Cardiff area are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who can work within the complex needs department of this school. Teaching Personnel have partnerships with SEN schools across South Wales that need PMLD specialising Teaching Assistant to start work immediately.

We are always looking for candidates with excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with pupils, and a great understanding of the specific needs of children with PMLD. Majority of pupils are wheelchair users, are medically dependent and require support with personal care. Pupils have access to fantastic facilities which include: Hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms and onsite physiotherapists.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in working within residential care
  • Manual Handling training is beneficial but not essential as we can provide this training going forward.
  • Special Educational Needs experience either in a professional or personal capacity.

Many of the pupils have low mobility so urgently require someone who is Moving & Handling trained. The pupils need someone with experience who is dedicated to working with SEN pupils. They need to be confident in the classroom and have innovative ways of helping PMLD students. The lessons are delivered to be sensory stimulating and interactive for the pupils, so experience with this type of lesson is advantageous.

Worried you have little experience within the classroom - do not panic! I am looking for the right personality to fully flourish in this role. We are also running a Manual Handling All Wales Passport course in the not too distant future to ensure you are raring and ready to go.

If this is the role for you then please call Bethan on 02920 660270 or one of the member of the SEN team and they will gladly help.
