KS3 - PMLD- Teaching- Assistant

  • An opportunity for an experienced for a PMLD Teaching Assistant to work part-time within a special school
  • Opportunity to work in a school with unique provision such as: a hydro pool, a leisure pool and sports facilities
  • The Teaching Assistant must have experience of working with pupils with PMLD

A full time position for a PMLD Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school. The position is initially commencing immediately and running until the end of the academic year. However, there could be an opportunity for permanent dependent on the need of the setting.

The school currently has 253 pupils enrolled and caters for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are aged 11- 19. In its most recent 2016 inspection the school was graded 'good' with outstanding features by OFSTED.

The role will involve working in collaboration with a fully Qualified Teacher to support and encourage the holistic development of pupils with PMLD. Due to the nature of role the school require an experienced Teaching Assistant who has experience in working with SEN in some capacity.

Ideally the PMLD teaching assistant will have:

  • Experience working a special school
  • Have an in-depth knowledge understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • Experience working with pupils with PMLD
  • An in-depth understanding of how to de-escalate challenging behaviour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
