Behaviour Support Role in Bridgewater, Somerset

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Secondary school who are looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work children in a Pupil Referral Unit. The school works with young people who are vulnerable in their mainstream schools for a variety of different reasons. They may be permanently excluded from school, at risk of exclusion or been diagnosed with long term medical conditions. The school works collaboratively with the all of the mainstream schools (Primary and Secondary) in Bridgwater, Burnham and Highbridge Districts.

The school are looking for a passionate and creative Teaching Assistant who has experience working with challenging behaviours.

What the role involves:

  • working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
  • working alongside a team of support staff in class
  • working on a 1:1 basis with students

To be considered for this role you will need to-

  • Provide support for pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of education or behaviour plans
  • Establish trusted relationships with pupils and work with them on an individual needs basis.
  • Promote the inclusion of all pupils in the classroom
  • Encourage pupils to interact in classroom learning and with their peers
  • Promote self confidence and set individual tailored goals and challenges
  • Be Team Teach trained or willing to complete the course
  • Have Experience in a school setting, youth work or relevant experience in behaviour management

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
