SEN Behaviour Support Mentor

Location: Lichfield

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am to 15:30pm)

Contract: Temporary (opportunity to go permanent)

Teaching Personnel are loooking for Behaviour Support Mentors for a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school located in Lichfield, committed to providing exceptional education and support to their students. The school is dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils facing various behavioral challenges. They believe in creating a supportive environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.

Job Role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavior Support Mentor to join the team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work closely with small classes of approximately 8 pupils, providing individualized support and assistance to both students and teachers. The role requires strong competency in behavior management techniques, patience, and a genuine passion for helping children overcome obstacles to their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing strategies to manage challenging behavior effectively.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to the teaching staff as necessary.
  • Utilize a range of behavior management techniques and interventions to support students in managing their emotions and behaviors.
  • Establish rapport and build positive relationships with students to promote engagement and motivation.
  • Support students in developing their social skills and emotional regulation strategies.

Requirements:

    • Previous experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties is desirable.
    • Strong understanding of behavior management principles and techniques.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
    • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to supporting students.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the individual needs of students.
    • Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, or a related field are desirable.
    • Obtain an enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
