An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Yeovil on a permanent, full-time basis.

Starting in September 2026, with flexibility for an earlier start if preferred, this role offers the chance to become part of a highly supportive team committed to transforming the educational experiences of children and young people with additional needs.

 

About the Position

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

  • Provide tailored support to pupils both individually and in small groups
  • Encourage engagement, participation, and positive learning behaviours
  • Assist with classroom activities and differentiated learning programmes
  • Support communication, social development, and emotional regulation
  • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Help monitor progress and celebrate achievements

 

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be patient, resilient, and genuinely committed to improving outcomes for children with additional needs.

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, or support settings
  • A strong understanding of SEND or a desire to develop specialist knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm, adaptable, and solution-focused
  • A positive attitude and collaborative approach to teamwork

Qualifications are valued, but personal qualities, enthusiasm, and commitment are equally important.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
