Job description

Job Title:  SEN Teaching Assistant
Location:  Royal Leamington Spa
Contract Type:  Full time/ Part time
Salary: Depending on experience

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual students or small groups with their learning, both in class and in small intervention sessions.
  • Adapt and modify resources and tasks to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support students with a range of SEN, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and more.
  • Help with managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to monitor student progress and provide feedback.
  • Assist with personal care or other specific needs, where required.
  • Support students in building social, emotional, and academic skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and assist with reports.

About You:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training and development opportunities.
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (preferred, but not essential).

Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities are identified on the SEND Register, under the four areas of SEND in line with the SEN Code of Practice 2015:

  • Cognition and Learning (including Specific Learning Difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD).
  • Communication and Interaction (Speech and Language Difficulties, autism spectrum condition, including Asperger’s Syndrome).
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
  • Sensory (including hearing or visual impairments), physical disabilities, medical conditions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
