A specialist provision for Secondary aged students out of mainstream schooling in Stockport is looking for a teaching assistant to provide one to one support. The student has recently left mainstream schooling due to challenging behaviour, and so needs support with this and with lessons to ensure that they are progressing at a good rate and are comfortable within the school.

In this position, you would work with other staff and the parents of the student to provide individualised support that encourages focus on work and to create a safe and supportive environment for them. You will also work to offer emotional support for the student if they appear to be struggling with their transition and build a rapport with the student so they trust that you are working with their best interests in mind.

For this role you should:

  • Have previous experience dealing with young people with challenging behaviour
  • Have a confident personality
  • Be able to adapt your support to suit individual needs of a student
  • Have excellent communication skills and use these to provide feedback
  • Have excellent safeguarding knowledge
  • Be available full-time

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
