SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire

Salary: £13.75 an hour

Contract: Part Time / Flexible

SEMH Teaching Assistants – Opportunities via Teaching Personnel

Are you committed to supporting children and young people with special educational needs?
If so, we have an excellent opportunity for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Salisbury and make a meaningful impact every day!

 

The Role:

You’ll play a key part in helping classroom teachers provide exceptional support to students between the ages of 6-18 years old. The students at this school have primary diagnoses / additional needs of the following:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
  • Trauma and Attachment Difficulties
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Complex Backgrounds

This provision offers a highly personalized curriculum that blends academic learning with therapeutic support to help students re-engage with education and build resilience.

Facilities include outdoor learning opportunities, vocational training, and spaces dedicated to wellbeing and therapy. The approach is trauma-informed, aiming to create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can develop confidence, independence, and life skills.

 

Who We Are Looking For:

  • SEMH knowledge and experience
  • SEND knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care
  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting children
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies

 

Working Hours/Benefits:ouHo

  • Part Time / Flexible, between the hours below
  • Monday-Friday = 08:30-16:30
  • Term Time Only
  • 12.07% Holiday Pay
  • Access to CPD accredited training courses
