Teaching Assistant
Job description
A supportive and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Poole is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from April 2026.
This role will involve working closely with students aged 11–16, supporting a range of additional needs within the classroom and through targeted interventions. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and make progress both academically and socially.
The school is known for its calm learning environment, clear behaviour expectations, and strong focus on student wellbeing. Staff are well supported by an approachable leadership team and a collaborative SEN department.
Key responsibilities will include:

Providing in-class support across KS3 and KS4
-
Working with individual students and small groups with varying needs
-
Supporting learning, engagement, and positive behaviour
-
Adapting resources to meet individual learning requirements

Working closely with teachers and support staff to monitor progress
The ideal candidate will have:
-
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school
-
Experience supporting students with a range of needs (SEN experience desirable)
-
A patient, flexible, and proactive approach
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
