Teaching Assistant – Oldham

Are you looking to support students throughout their time in education? Do you have experience supporting young people who may have Special Educational Needs, or who display challenging behaviour?

Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a secondary school in Oldham who are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant from January 2020 to support a small group of identified students.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to take their first steps into an educational setting, or for those who have backgrounds in youth work or care work.

  • Full time Teaching Assistant role from January 2020
  • Fixed term contract until the end of the academic year
  • Opportunity for permanent contract thereafter
  • Supporting students with SEND and challenging behaviour
  • Earn up to GBP1300 per month

Our partner school is located in the Greenfield area of Oldham, and is currently oversubscribed and popular within the local community. In their most recent Ofsted inspection in 2018, they were rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted with inspections stating that the leadership team are ‘ambitious and passionate about the quality of learning’ indicating that the 1300+ students currently enrolled are receiving a good education. The school are due to move to a state of the art new building within the next 18 months, further offering students a strong culture for learning.

As a Teaching Assistant at our partner school, the successful candidate will join a successful SEN department overseen by an experienced SENDCO. The role will involve supporting a number of identified students both during lesson and also in the alternative provision unit which is located on site. Support will range from assisting students on a 1:1 basis, as well as in small groups. Students may have SEND needs including ASD, ADHD and Physical complexities, as well as some displaying challenging behaviour and at risk of exclusion.
