Location: Newport
Pay: £89.38 per day
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

Year 2 Teaching Assistant – Newport Primary School
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 class in a welcoming primary school in Newport, starting after the February half term 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a consistent, full-time classroom role within a supportive school environment. You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ learning, development, and classroom engagement, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
This position is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant, graduate, or someone with relevant childcare or classroom experience looking to develop their career within education.
Key Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning within a Year 2 classroom

Assist the class teacher with daily lessons and activities

Provide 1:1 and small group support where required

Support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

Help manage behaviour and maintain a positive classroom environment

Prepare classroom resources and learning materials
-
Encourage pupil confidence, independence, and participation
Requirements
-
Previous experience working with children or within a school setting
-
Experience supporting within KS1 is desirable
-
Patient, proactive, and reliable approach
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Passion for supporting children’s learning and development
-
Right to work in the UK
-
Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Ability to provide references and proof of address
