Teaching Assistant Opportunity – Newport Primary Schools

We are currently recruiting for enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistants to support a range of welcoming primary schools across Newport starting after the February half term 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible work within education. Whether you are looking for full days, part days, or work that fits around other commitments, we can offer assignments to suit your availability.

You will be supporting across Early Years and primary classes, with opportunities to work closely with pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.

This role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates, or anyone looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support across Early Years and primary classes

• Support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) where required

• Assist teachers with learning activities and classroom management

• Help deliver tailored learning support to meet individual needs

• Support behaviour, engagement, and daily classroom routines

• Prepare classroom resources and learning materials

• Encourage confidence, independence, and participation

Requirements

• Experience working with children or in a school setting is desirable but not essential

• A patient, proactive, and reliable approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning

• Right to work in the UK

• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

• Ability to provide references and proof of address
