Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Autism and associated needs? Teaching Personnel are proud to be working with an Ofsted outstanding rated school in the Lymington area. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time basis (37 hours per week).

The School:

The school offers a warm, safe, and structured environment where students can develop their strengths and achieve their potential. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum, tailored to meet the individual needs of our students, ensuring they gain the skills necessary for life beyond school. The successful Learning Support Assistant will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, and develop social skills.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students, aged 7 to 19 years. You will work closely with teachers to deliver tailored educational programmes that help our students thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment. The school operates 52 weeks of the year and provides a modern residential setting on the outskirts of Lymington, Hampshire.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30 – 16:45
  • Friday: 8:30 – 16:15 (inclusive of breaks)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individualised educational programmes
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Support students in achieving their academic and personal goals
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
  • Actively participate in play and youth activities, including swimming, ball games, and music
  • Maintain accurate records and write reports as required
  • Ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding at all times

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be patient, empathetic, and committed to helping students overcome their challenges. You should have:

  • A genuine interest in working with young people with Asperger Syndrome and related difficulties
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
  • Reliability, punctuality, and respectfulness in all professional settings
