Position: Teaching Assistant – Year 4
Location: Primary School, Horsham, West Sussex
Contract Type: Permanent / Fixed Term (as applicable)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Hours: 8:20am – 3:20pm (6.5 hours per day)
Pay: Grade 3 – Scale Point 3 (£24,796 pro rata)
Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Horsham, supporting the Year 4 class. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment and assist teachers in delivering engaging, tailored lessons to support pupils’ academic and social development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within the Year 4 classroom and small group settings.
- Provide individual support to pupils with a range of learning needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support colleagues to improve pupil outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience supporting children in a primary school, preferably with Year 4 or upper KS2 pupils.
- Understanding of SEN and differentiated learning support.
- A patient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning.
- A relevant qualification or First Aid training is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive school culture and promoting pupil wellbeing.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
