Job description

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a number of schools across Hastings and the wider East Sussex area and is currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils on a flexible or long-term basis.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s learning and development, including those with previous experience in education, childcare, or other roles working with young people. It is also suitable for graduates, career changers, or anyone looking to build experience within a school setting.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher

  • Working with individuals or small groups to support learning and progress

  • Assisting with the delivery of lessons and learning activities

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEN, where required

  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

  • Supporting behaviour management in line with school policies

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and engagement

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in any setting (education, childcare, care, or similar)

  • A patient, caring, and supportive approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
