Learning Support Assistant – East Grinstead (Mental Health Needs and Autism)

An innovative, nurturing SEN school in East Grinstead is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 11–18 with a mixture of autism, anxiety, and mental health needs. The school offers a therapeutic approach to education, focusing on building confidence, resilience, and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting pupils both in the classroom and in therapeutic sessions

• Assisting teachers with developing and delivering personalised learning programmes

• Helping students develop emotional regulation, communication, and social skills

• Working with external mental health professionals and families

Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism and/or mental health difficulties (preferred)

• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to adapt support methods based on individual needs
