Learning Support Assistant – East Grinstead (Mental Health Needs and Autism)
Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity | Immediate Start
An innovative, nurturing SEN school in East Grinstead is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 11–18 with a mixture of autism, anxiety, and mental health needs. The school offers a therapeutic approach to education, focusing on building confidence, resilience, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting pupils both in the classroom and in therapeutic sessions

Assisting teachers with developing and delivering personalised learning programmes

Helping students develop emotional regulation, communication, and social skills
-
Working with external mental health professionals and families
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism and/or mental health difficulties (preferred)
-
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
Ability to adapt support methods based on individual needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
