SEN Teaching Assistant – Permanent

Full-Time | Cranborne, Dorset | SEMH School

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH secondary school in Cranborne for a permanent Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.

Supporting pupils aged 11–16, the school provides a structured and supportive environment for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to provide targeted support across the school day.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Assisting with classroom learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Implementing individual support strategies
  • Encouraging pupil engagement and independence
  • Building positive professional relationships
  • Contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment

Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will ideally have experience working with children or young people within an SEN, SEMH, education, care or support setting.

However, the school is equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate the right attitude, resilience and commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
