Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting FOUR Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in Cranborne on an ongoing temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Youth Workers, Support Workers, or individuals with a strong interest in working with young people to join a supportive specialist setting.

The Setting

The school supports young people aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Due to the individual needs of the pupils, the school places a strong emphasis on building positive relationships, providing consistency, and creating a calm and structured environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day role will involve supporting pupils both academically and pastorally. You may work on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, or alongside the class teacher.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils to engage with their learning
  • Providing encouragement and emotional support
  • Helping pupils manage behaviour and emotions
  • Supporting classroom activities and interventions
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team
  • Helping maintain a safe, calm, and positive learning environment

Who We're Looking For

You don't necessarily need to have previous SEMH experience. The school is looking for people who are reliable, patient, resilient, and passionate about helping young people succeed.

Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:

SEN | SEMH | Education | Youth Work | Care | Sports | Behaviour Support

Most importantly, you should be confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviour and be able to remain calm and consistent in difficult situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
