Job description

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Cowbridge from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to gain valuable school-based experience or continue their career within education.

Location: Cowbridge
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Daily Rate: £92.63 - £95

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally throughout the school day. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you'll help create a positive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Your duties may include:

  • Supporting pupils during lessons and learning activities
  • Working one-to-one or with small groups to reinforce learning
  • Assisting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Helping to prepare classroom resources and displays
  • Supporting pupils' social and emotional development
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
  • Assisting teachers with day-to-day classroom organisation

Who We're Looking For

This role would suit someone who is:

  • Passionate about working with children
  • Patient, compassionate and approachable
  • Confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Adaptable and able to work as part of a team
  • Committed to supporting children's learning and wellbeing
  • Experienced in schools, nurseries, youth work or childcare settings (desirable but not essential)

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • EWC Registration, or willingness to apply
  • The right to work in the UK

Our team can support you throughout both the DBS and EWC application processes. Fees for the applications will need to be covered by you.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
