Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school in Barry who are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience within education, as well as experienced Teaching Assistants who are looking for their next long-term position.
The successful candidate will become an important part of the classroom team, helping pupils access their learning while providing encouragement, guidance and practical support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with their day-to-day learning
- Working alongside the class teacher and wider support staff
- Providing individual and small-group support where required
- Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
- Supporting children with additional learning needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
- Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
- Assisting with classroom activities and preparation
- Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime where required
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff and families
Who Would Suit This Role?
The school is looking for someone who is approachable, dependable and able to adapt to the individual needs of different pupils.
Experience working in a school is advantageous, but previous school experience is not essential. Experience working with children, young people, sports, childcare, youth work or other people-focused environments can provide valuable transferable skills.
This could be particularly well suited to:
- Experienced Teaching Assistants
- Learning Support Assistants
- Graduates considering a career in teaching
- Candidates with childcare or youth work experience
- Sports coaches or mentors
- Candidates with experience supporting children with additional needs
You will need to be confident working as part of a team and willing to get involved wherever support is needed.
Teaching Personnel offer competitive weekly pay, ongoing support and access to further education opportunities across the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff areas.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
