Salary: Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm 

Contract: Temporary 

Location: Barry

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Base. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of pupils with a range of additional learning needs by supporting their academic, social and emotional development within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, the ALNCo and wider professionals to deliver high-quality support, helping pupils access learning and achieve their full potential.

As this role involves supporting Welsh-medium learning and communication, the ability to speak Welsh fluently is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs in both individual and small-group settings.
  • Deliver planned learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Promote pupils' independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and targeted interventions.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to support learning.
  • Monitor, record and report on pupils' progress.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Support pupils through the medium of Welsh and promote the use of the Welsh language throughout the school day.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Is fluent in spoken Welsh.
  • Has experience of working with children with Additional Learning Needs (desirable).
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Is flexible, organised and able to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
