Job description

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the CF11 area is seeking an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Specialist Resource Base (SRB) from September on a full-time basis.

This role requires a confident and proactive individual with previous experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual targets within a specialist setting.

The SRB supports children with a range of additional learning needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, social communication needs, sensory needs, and developmental delays. Pupils may require personalised learning approaches, structured routines, visual support strategies, and assistance with emotional regulation throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with children with ALN in a school or specialist setting.
  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a calm approach when managing challenging situations.
  • Be able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Support communication, social development, and emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress.
  • Be comfortable adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, following guidance from teachers and external professionals where required.
  • Have a genuine commitment to supporting children to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support within the SRB.
  • Assisting pupils with personalised learning programmes.
  • Supporting communication and language development.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Encouraging independence and social interaction.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Supporting pupils during classroom activities, interventions, and transitions throughout the school day.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
