Teaching Assistant – January Start
Primary School, Cardiff
Start: January (Long-Term)
Role: Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Long-Term) – Year 2 Class Support
Pay: £89.38 per day

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Teaching Assistant starting in January at a friendly primary school in Cardiff, where you will be supporting a Year 2 class.

Staff work closely as a team, leadership is approachable, and there are clear routines and strong pastoral support in place, making it a rewarding school to join whether you’re experienced or looking to grow your confidence in education.

Role Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities across the curriculum (Curriculum for Wales)
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils make progress in literacy, numeracy, and wider learning
• Support children with additional learning needs (ALN) where required, adapting support to individual needs
• Help maintain a calm, positive learning environment with clear routines and expectations
• Encourage pupil confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
• Promote wellbeing, inclusion, and safeguarding best practice at all times

Candidate Requirements

• Experience working with children (school-based experience desirable)
• A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• A genuine interest in helping children thrive academically and emotionally
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
