Locations – Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire

Full time roles available

September 2025 start date

£89 - £100 per day

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting its next group of teaching assistants for the 2025/2026 academic year, we are seeking enthusiastic individuals who will support and nurture a group of students who suffer with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) these students might have difficulties seeing, hearing, speaking and moving. They may have complicated health and social care needs due to these or other conditions. A lot of them need assistant with basic living skills which can include eating, washing and personal hygiene, making someone with a care background an ideal candidate for this type of role.

Position details

  • September 2025 start date
  • Working hours – 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary depending on the school)
  • Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Opportunity to transition to a permanent contact with the school, for the right candidates

What you’ll do

  • Support students with PMLD needs in learning the schools tailored curriculum, either in small groups or on a one-on-one basis
  • Assist students with basic care including eating, washing and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with the learning and development of the classroom students, by supporting with sensory activities and learning materials when and where possible
  • Build professional relationships with your fellow classroom staff, and the wider school community

The ideal candidate

  • Someone with a passion for working within a classroom environment, looking to start or continue a career in the education sector
  • Strong communication skills is a non-negotiable for this role
  • Someone who comes from a care background is desirable, but not essential
  • Experience isn't essential, as long as you have the passion and drive to be successful in this work. We'd love to hear from you!
  • Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour, either personally or professionally, is desirable, but not a necessity.
