Primary Teaching Assistant – NP12 Area
Start Date: January 2026
Pay Rate: From £13.75 per hour
Hours: Full-Time (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday)
Are you passionate about supporting children’s learning and development? Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the NP12 area starting January 2026.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and helping them thrive in the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the class teacher with classroom management and behaviour.
- Supervising small group activities (reading, writing, numeracy).
- Providing social and emotional support to pupils.
- Preparing the classroom and organising resources for lessons.
- Encouraging pupil engagement and participation in activities.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and adapting to their individual needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- Confident in managing groups and promoting positive behaviour.
- Previous experience supporting children in a classroom or similar setting OR transferable skills from roles such as:
- Sports Coach
- Nursery Practitioner
- Playworker
- Youth Worker
- Residential Care Worker
- Support Worker
- Care Assistant
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Empathetic and understanding approach to supporting children.
Experience with ALN is desirable but not essential. Full training and ongoing support provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
