Job description

KS2 Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (SEMH) – Full Time

Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026 (after the Easter break)
Location: Blackpool (FY1)
Contract: Full‑time, long‑term

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate KS2 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full‑time position starting after the Easter break on 13th April 2026, with the potential to continue for the remainder of the academic year.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with a Year 4 pupil on a 1:1 basis, supporting their emotional regulation, learning engagement and social development.
  • Implement personalised strategies to help the pupil access the curriculum and feel safe and supported within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and wider pastoral team to deliver consistent, nurturing support.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience and independence through a trauma‑informed, child‑centred approach.
  • Contribute to a calm, structured learning environment.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEMH needs (school‑based or transferable experience welcome).
  • Is patient, empathetic and able to build strong, trusting relationships.
  • Can respond calmly to challenging situations and use de‑escalation strategies when needed.
  • Is confident supporting learning across the KS2 curriculum.
  • Is committed to helping children thrive both emotionally and academically.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
