SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 1)

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil within a welcoming primary school in Blackpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Whether you have previous experience working within an educational setting, supporting children or people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), or have transferable experience working with children in another capacity, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 1 pupil, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. You will work alongside the class teacher and wider support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with additional learning needs.
- Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning where required.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Supporting communication, social development, and independence.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents/carers.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Previous SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.
- A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Two professional references covering the last two years.
