Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Location: Beaminster
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: Dependent on experience

Are you a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a new opportunity from September? Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming secondary school in Beaminster who are looking to appoint a committed Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys helping young people overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide additional support to students, helping them build confidence, remain engaged and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students.

  • Supporting pupils with their learning across a range of subjects.

  • Helping students stay focused and engaged during lessons.

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and resources.

  • Supporting students with additional learning or behavioural needs where required.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping create an inclusive classroom environment.

  • Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff.

  • Contributing to the wider life of the school.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people.

  • Is passionate about supporting students to succeed.

  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Is patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships.

  • Can work effectively as part of a team.

  • Is confident supporting students with a range of abilities and needs.

  • Has a positive and adaptable approach to working in a busy school environment.

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within a school setting is advantageous, although candidates with relevant experience in youth work, childcare, mentoring or other support-based roles are also encouraged to apply.
