PMLD Teaching Assistant Role
Locations: Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire
Full-Time Positions Available
Start Date: September 2025
Daily Pay: £89 - £100
Teaching Personnel is now recruiting for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic year and we’re looking for compassionate, enthusiastic individuals to join our team of teaching assistants. This role involves supporting students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). These young people may experience challenges related to vision, hearing, communication, and mobility, and often require assistance with daily living skills such as eating, washing, and personal hygiene. Those with a background in care may find this position particularly rewarding.
Role Overview

Start Date: September 2025

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (subject to change depending on the school)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, term-time only

Potential for a permanent position for the right candidate
Your Responsibilities

Support students with PMLD in accessing a specialised school curriculum, either one-on-one or in small groups

Provide essential care support, including assistance with eating, hygiene, and personal needs

Engage students in sensory activities and tailored educational tasks

Foster strong, professional relationships with teaching staff and the wider school team
Who We’re Looking For

Individuals passionate about working in education and making a difference in young people’s lives

Excellent communication skills are essential

A background in care is advantageous but not required

Prior experience with SEN or challenging behaviour is a plus, but not a must—your attitude and commitment are what matter most

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
