About the Role
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to work within a Key Stage 2 setting at a welcoming primary school in Barry.
This is a full-time position supporting a mix of mainstream pupils and those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a broad range of classroom and SEN support skills.
You will play a vital role in helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence in their learning, and maintain positive engagement throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stage 2
- Work with small groups of pupils to reinforce learning in literacy and numeracy
- Provide targeted 1:1 support for pupils with Additional Learning Needs
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet a range of abilities
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and social interaction
- Assist in creating a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Help monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Support classroom routines, transitions, and day-to-day organisation

Previous experience working with children, in education, care, youth work, or similar settings is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
