Teaching Assistant- Complex Needs- Temporary

A part time position for a PMLD Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school. The position is initially temporary and will suit Teaching Assistant who is looking for an opportunity to extend the SEN expertise. Intially the position as on a day to day basis as and when the school require. The setting also have more permenant positions available so Teaching Assistans seeking full time roles should apply.

The setting is a Secondary Special School is situated in Rochdale. The school currently has 253 pupils enrolled and caters for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are aged 11- 19. In its most recent 2016 inspection the school was graded 'good' with outstanding features by OFSTED.

The role will involve working in collaboration with a fully Qualified Teacher to support and encourage the holistic development of pupils with PMLD. Due to the nature of role the school require an experienced Teaching Assistant who has experience in working with SEN in some capacity.

Ideally the PMLD Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working a special school
• Ideally Team-Teach trained (teaching personnel provide training)
• Have an in-depth knowledge understanding of safeguarding procedures
• Experience working with pupils with PMLD
• An in-depth understanding of how to de-escalate challenging behaviour
