Full Time Secondary School Support Assistant required – Penarth – September Start

Teaching Personnel have been contacted by one of its partner schools in the Vale of Glamorgan to support with a number of pupils that have ALN (additional learning needs) the pupils have been highlighted to need extra support throughout all of their lessons and you will be tasked to support on a one-to-one basis rotating through a small group of pupils, ideally this position is looking to start after the School returns from the summer break, however the school would like to meet you and set up a trial day before they break up.
Some of the key skills and qualities we are looking for would be excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with pupils, and a great understanding of the specific needs of children. This role in particular will see you working for the majority of the time on a one-to-one basis with a young male pupil in year 7. The level of support you will need to provide will be physical, emotional and social as well as supporting his education. At other times you will be asked to support with small groups of pupils within the schools specialist unit. When you do support the smaller group, there are a number of pupils that are wheelchair users, and a small number require support with personal care.
The young pupil you will be supporting and others in the group have low mobility so therefore require someone who has experience with Moving & Handling or someone who is willing to be trained in this.

I am looking for the right personality to fully flourish in this role. The school have said they will give you the right training as long as you show the right willingness to learn and develop into the role.
