We are looking for a Teacher of the Deaf to support a local council in meeting the needs of pupils with hearing impairments
The role would be full time, term time only. The successful Teacher of the Deaf would be based 2 days at a local primary school at the specialist HI unit and 3 days working outreach in other schools. This would allow the successful Teacher of the Deaf to use specialist facilities to further their work and then take their skills and resources and support various children who are in need of specific additional support.
The council has a long-standing history of proving outstanding care to the young people in its care, especially those with additional needs including hearing impairments so you would well support by a dedicated team in your role.
The ideal Teacher of the Deaf would have:
- Teaching Experience
- Evidence of supporting those with hearing impairments
- BSL experience
- Patience and determination
The pupils are based in schools in the Bury area which has extensive transport links by road bus or train.
To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.
Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.
Working hours are between Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
