This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner ready to support the strategic development of the English department while leading by example in the classroom.

 Key Responsibilities

• Support the Head of English with the strategic development and day‑to‑day management of the department.
• Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, curriculum delivery and assessment across English.
• Assist with departmental improvement planning, self-evaluation and quality assurance.
• Monitor progress data and implement effective intervention strategies to raise attainment.
• Deliver engaging and well-planned lessons that motivate learners and promote excellent behaviour.
• Contribute enthusiastically to department initiatives, whole‑school priorities and enrichment activities.

Requirements

Essential:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Strong subject expertise in English Literature and Language.
• Proven experience of outstanding behaviour management and student engagement.
• Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues (desirable for leadership).
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and commitment to student welfare.
• Evidence of sustained professional development and reflective practice.
