This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner ready to support the strategic development of the English department while leading by example in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of English with the strategic development and day‑to‑day management of the department.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, curriculum delivery and assessment across English.
- Assist with departmental improvement planning, self-evaluation and quality assurance.
- Monitor progress data and implement effective intervention strategies to raise attainment.
- Deliver engaging and well-planned lessons that motivate learners and promote excellent behaviour.
- Contribute enthusiastically to department initiatives, whole‑school priorities and enrichment activities.
Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong subject expertise in English Literature and Language.
- Proven experience of outstanding behaviour management and student engagement.
- Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues (desirable for leadership).
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and commitment to student welfare.
- Evidence of sustained professional development and reflective practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
