Teacher of English – Full‑Time – Experienced English Specialist – Basingstoke

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, well‑structured English lessons that meet the needs of mixed‑ability learners.
  • Plan and adapt curriculum content to maximise student progress and embed a love of English.
  • Take responsibility for the progress and outcomes of all students taught, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to reach their potential.
  • Contribute to wider departmental planning, assessment, and development of teaching resources.
  • Maintain high expectations around behaviour, fostering a safe and purposeful classroom environment.
  • Support the school’s wider ethos, values and community initiatives.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and English Language.
  • Proven behaviour management skills, particularly with KS3 and KS4.
  • Evidence of continued professional development and reflective teaching practice.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
