SEMH General Teacher
Location: Bath (BA2)
Key stages – 3 and 4
Full-time Position
Pay: £140 to £200 per day
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a qualified, to support and nurture a class of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These may include students experiencing anxiety, depression, disruptive and antisocial behaviour, uncooperative attitudes, frustration, anger, verbal and physical aggression, and difficulties with social interactions.
Empathy and understanding are essential in this role. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver the school's tailored curriculum to a small class of 8 to 10 students, supported daily by a team of teaching assistants.
Position Details:
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, term-time only
- Location: BA2 area of Bath
- Contract: Potential to transition to a permanent contract for the right candidate
Requirements:
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with verification of the qualification
- An enhanced child-only DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel
- Right to work in the UK
- References covering the last 2 years of work and any childcare roles within the last 10 years
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the school’s curriculum
- Mark students’ work and provide constructive individual feedback to support their academic progress
- Set clear, realistic learning targets based on each student's developmental needs
- Build trusting relationships with students to foster emotional and academic growth
- Collaborate professionally with classroom support staff and other colleagues across the school
Who We’re Looking For:
- A passionate educator looking to begin or continue a career in teaching
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Experience in educational settings is desirable but not essential—newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply!
- SEMH experience (personal or professional) is desirable but not a requirement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
