Support Worker – Durham Secondary Schools
ASAP start available, competitive daily rate, full time position.
Teaching Personnel is recruiting Support Workers for secondary schools across Durham. If you're compassionate, resilient, and passionate about making a difference in young people's lives, this could be the role for you.
You'll work with students who need additional support, whether that's academic, behavioural, emotional, or social. This role suits individuals with experience in youth work, care, mentoring, or anyone who genuinely wants to help students overcome barriers and reach their potential.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
- Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams
- Building trusting relationships with students who may be vulnerable or disengaged
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment
- Assisting with personal care, behaviour management, and safeguarding where needed
You need:
- Experience working with children or young people (desirable)
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
- Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
