Support Worker

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

Working with young children can be challenging, especially if those children have special needs.
But imagine you are the child, needing someone to support you in multiple aspects of life; with education, socialising, behaviour and personal care. You'd want someone caring and reliable, who makes you feel confident and motivated but also secure and respected. Someone who is patient and who makes an effort to make your day the best day, every day.

Does that person sound like you?

We're looking to recruit for 'Teaching Assistants' to work within Specialist SEN schools, supporting, caring and mentoring young students with a range of needs. Some of these needs can include Autism Spectrum Condition, Downs Syndrome, Aspergers, Cerebral Palsy and other complex, profound or multiple conditions.

The role includes a range of responsibilities, starting with the main role of ensuring the students are included and engaged in all classroom activities to personal care such as changing and feeding. Of course, responsibilities can depend on the severity of the needs of the students you are caring for.

SEN schools have a holistic and active approach to learning, ensuring the structure of the day meets the needs of each students Education Health Care Plan, and incorporates plenty of sensory and social activities.

For students with milder needs, there is a heavy focus on them gaining confidence and independence in their life skills for later in life.

If you have experience in care, support, SEN, teaching assisting or similar, please apply with your CV, we'd love to hear about your experience!
