Support Assistant - Wakefield

Are you a Teaching Assistant looking for work in Wakefield area? Have you got experience working 1:1 with challenging behaviour? Are you available to start as soon as possible?

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Assistant for a specialist SEN School in Wakefield. The school caters for pupils aged 5-11 with a range of Special Educational Needs including Autism, PMLD, SLD, SLCN and MLD. All pupils have an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and follow a differentiated curriculum catered to their needs.
Your role will be to support pupils in the classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will support the pupils to access learning activities to meet their needs. Some of the students might display challenging behaviours so the Team Teach, MAPA or equivalent qualification is ideal.

The school is situated close to the centre of Wakefield and has excellent public transport links.
This is a demanding role that requires a high level of patience, energy and enthusiasm. We welcome applications from those with all levels of experience as we can provide opportunities to develop your skills through our CPD Academy - our partnership with Leeds Trinity University has provided a number of training opportunities including courses in Assessment for Learning, Effective Behaviour Management and Curriculum Development.

We are looking for someone:

• With a strong and resilient personality in what can be a very challenging role
• Who has the passion and desire to have a positive impact on a pupil with SEN
• Who is able to work with a pupil 1:1 or in a group setting
• With Team Teach or MAPA equivalent (desirable but not essential)
