About the Role
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harrow is seeking a motivated and committed Core Subject Learning Support Assistant to support students across English, Mathematics and Science. This role is ideal for someone passionate about raising attainment and supporting pupils to overcome academic barriers.

You will work closely with class teachers, the SEND department and pastoral staff to provide targeted support both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students during English, Maths and Science lessons

  • Deliver one to one and small group academic interventions

  • Assist pupils with SEND, EAL and those requiring additional learning support

  • Reinforce key literacy, numeracy and scientific concepts

  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policy

  • Support lesson preparation and classroom organisation

  • Track progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

  • Foster confidence, independence and resilience in learners

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting

  • Strong subject knowledge in core curriculum areas

  • A calm, patient and supportive approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

  • Experience supporting SEND or EAL pupils (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
