Job description
Teaching Personnel are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Engagement and Inclusion Officer, working across a range of schools in Middlebourough. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them to re-engage positively with learning.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils build self-regulation, confidence, and resilience.
- Support the implementation of individual behaviour and learning plans, ensuring strategies are applied consistently.
- Be a visible and approachable presence around the school to help maintain calm, consistency, and a sense of safety.
- Promote and contribute to the school’s reward and recognition systems, celebrating student effort and progress.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care, or community setting.
- Understanding of SEND, behaviour management, and inclusive classroom practice.
- Awareness of key frameworks such as the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, and GDPR.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Zones of Regulation or similar emotional regulation approaches.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across school teams.
- Confidence in using assistive technology or adaptive learning tools to support accessibility.
- A child-centred, patient, and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in a dynamic learning environment.
- Ability to drive with access to own vehicle.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
