Job Title: Sports Coach (Alternative Provision)
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Salary: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Coach to join our team at an alternative provision school in Blackburn. This role involves working with pupils aged 7–16 who have experienced challenges in mainstream education. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering engaging physical education sessions that support students' personal development, confidence, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver inclusive PE lessons and sports activities tailored to individual student needs.
- Support the school's curriculum by integrating physical activity into daily routines.
- Organise and lead extracurricular sports clubs and events, including football, dance, and table tennis.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff to promote positive behaviour and engagement through sport.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles.
- Contribute to the organisation of school-wide events such as Sports Day and inter-school tournaments.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Level 2 coaching qualification in a relevant sport or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour with patience and empathy.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Experience in an alternative provision or special educational needs (SEN) setting.
- Knowledge of the PE National Curriculum and ability to adapt it to diverse learning needs.
- First Aid qualification.
