Specialist Teaching Assistant
Job description
Are you an experienced Specialist Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role within a supportive secondary alternative provision? We are recruiting a dedicated professional to support learners aged 11 to 16 in the New Milton area, helping students re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
This role is full-time with an immediate start, offering consistent hours and long-term opportunity.

The school is recognised for its strong pastoral support, clear behaviour expectations and commitment to personalised learning pathways. Staff work closely as a team and are fully supported by experienced leadership.
You will work with students who present:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)

Behavioural and emotional regulation challenges
-
Learning needs supported through an alternative provision model
The Role
-
Working hours: 8.30am to 4pm
-
Supporting students aged 11 to 16
-
Secondary and alternative provision experience
-
Providing targeted 1:1 and small group support
-
Behaviour support, de-escalation and emotional regulation
-
Working alongside teachers, pastoral and therapeutic teams
Essential Requirements

Minimum 6 months childcare experience, ideally within SEN, SEMH, behaviour support or education settings

Calm, resilient and nurturing approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Must be able to drive due to the location of the school

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
